Welcome to the Ancestral Journey Tour, where you’ll explore Ghana’s rich cultural and historical heritage and trace your ancestral lineage. Our experienced tour guides will take you to historic sites like the Cape Coast and Elmina Castle, where you’ll pay tribute to your ancestors. As part of the tour, you’ll also participate in a traditional Ghanaian naming ceremony, receiving a name that connects you to your ancestral heritage. ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Ghana

Welcome to Ghana, the land of gold, culture, and history! Upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport, you will be greeted by our team and transferred to your hotel. Relax and freshen up before joining us for a welcome dinner and drinks at the hotel or a nearby restaurant. Get ready to experience the warmth and hospitality of the Ghanaian people.

Day 2: Accra City Tour

Today, we will take you on a tour of the capital city of Ghana, Accra. Your experienced guide will show you the must-visit landmarks of Accra, including the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Makola Market, W.EB Dubois Center, and Osu Castle. At Makola Market, you will witness the vibrant energy and colorful sights of this busy marketplace. After the tour, we will head to Labadi Pleasure Beach to relax and enjoy the ocean breeze before returning to the hotel.

Day 3: Faana Village and Drive to Cape Coast

After breakfast, we will drive to the Central Region of Ghana. En route, we will stop at Faana village to visit this ancient community and learn about the way of life of the people. This is a settlement of about 400 people trapped between the sea and the Densu river. During the tour, we will learn about the history of the settlement. After lunch, we will continue our journey to Cape Coast.

Day 4: Cape Coast Tour

Today, we will visit the Assin Manso slave river and market, which was the final place slaves had their last bath before they were made to walk barefooted through the virgin forest for three weeks to the castle. We will also visit the Cape Coast Castle to discover how slaves were kept in the dungeon awaiting ships and visit the door of no return. It will be a sobering experience, but it is important to learn about Ghana’s history of slavery.

Day 5: Elmina and Kakum Rainforest

Today, we will visit Elmina Ancient Town, one of the oldest European settlements in West Africa. We will also visit Kakum National Park and walk the canopy walkway, suspended 30 meters above the ground. It will be an exhilarating experience walking through the rainforest canopy and enjoying the breathtaking views.

Day 6: Elmina Naming Ceremony

Today, we will visit the chief palace and learn about the traditions of the local people. You will also participate in a naming ceremony where you will be given a name based on the day of the week you were born. You will be dressed in traditional African clothing and enjoy brass band music and merrymaking in the streets of the local community. It will be a memorable and unique experience.

Day 7: Rest and Elmina Castle

Today is a rest day, and we will visit Elmina Castle. It was built by the Portuguese in 1482 and later used as a trading post for gold and ivory. It was also used for the transatlantic slave trade. The castle has a dark history, but it is important to learn about Ghana’s past.

Day 8: Kumasi Tour

Today, we will drive to Kumasi, the capital city of the Ashanti region. We will visit Manhyia Palace, the official residence of the Ashanti king. We will also visit Kejetia Market, one of the largest outdoor markets in West Africa. The market is a bustling hub of activity, with vendors selling everything from fresh produce to traditional crafts.

Day 9: Bonwire Kente Village and Drive to Accra

Today, we will visit Bonwire Kente Village and learn about the traditional weaving of Kente cloth. Kente cloth is a brightly colored, handwoven fabric that is an important part of our culture. Drive back to Accra

Day 10: Rest & shopping in Accra

Day 11: Departure from Accra

After breakfast at the hotel, guests will be transferred to the airport for their departure flight. They will say goodbye to the beautiful country of Ghana and depart with unforgettable memories and experiences. The journey might have ended, but the memories will last a lifetime, and they will surely want to return to Ghana for another adventure.
